26 DOgs and puppies treated so far

In the last few weeks we have provided basic medical treatment for 26 dogs and puppies in our focus area around Batu Katak, North Sumatra! This could not have been possible without the support of everyone who donated to help buy the medications 🙏 Thank you so much. We will have more medications at the end of August and we will be continuing with treatments then. Below is the founder of Stay Wild, Vanessa Rowe, with a few of the dogs we have been able to help!

Harimau conservation and stay wild learning about cave ecology

Picture

The Stay Wild team and volunteers joined up with Harimau Conservation team and students from Puerto Rico to learn about caves! The opportunity to learn more about cave ecology, safety when taking guests into caves and how to map a cave. There are many caves in Batu Katak and all the knowledge we gained from this collaborative experience will help us to preserve these caves whilst allowing guests to safely experience and learn about them.

Great news! So far we have had enough donations to provide a 3 month treatment to 30 desperate dogs for mange, fleas and intestinal parasites! And it's all thanks to our amazing supporters. Thank you to all who have generously donated so far!!
We will also be providing follow up treatments in November, if you would like to assist us with this we have volunteering options available.

These are the beautiful feathers of the Great Agus, a mostly ground dwelling bird that is closely related to pheasants and peafowl!
Although The Great Agus is not classified as endangered they are still at great risk as more and more of the forest is lost to overseas corporations and palm oil plantations.

This is a fantastic article by Tono D’Amico, Head of Conservation Education at Bukit Lawang Trust who we are very lucky to work alongside in North Sumatra.

Darwin animal doctors and stay wild have partnered up!

Stay Wild is excited to partner with Darwin Animal Doctors! Our first initiative was providing 70 fruit trees for a forest edge community in North Sumatra! The trees were planted on the road side and will provide a source of income for the village. The leader of the community and lots of children helped to plant the trees 🙏💜

The stay wild camera traps are set up to make as minimal disturbance as possible, that includes making sure that we are also avoiding the area as much as we can so that the animals are not dis-encouraged from their territories. This little porcupines home is nearby and we often capture him on camera as he follows the familiar tracks back to his burrow.

One World,
 One Chance!
